There’s a new look and feel to Valerie Confections at Grand Central Market today. The long-running stall was among the first of the new wave to arrive at the market back in 2013, and just this morning they unveiled a shiny new refresh complete with all the chocolate trimmings.
The first thing you’ll notice from the facelift is all the dark walnut wood. Co-owner Stan Weightman Jr. actually designed the new surfaces to spec for the space, and they give the big, long stall a more lived-in feel than the initial tile and metal.
You’ll also notice a larger collection of coolers for keeping some of co-owner Valerie Gordon’s vast assortment of chocolate treats. Passersby (or anyone waiting in the Eggslut line) will now be able to snatch themselves a cookie, chocolate bar, or single petit four to snack on right there in the market, instead of having to buy in bulk and eat somewhere else.
As for the savory side of the menu, Valerie Confections has expanded their all-day menu with more salads (including an option to sample several at once) and a kid’s menu for the tykes who travel with their parents to the market. They’ve still got coffee and tea of course, and hope to add beer and wine sometime down the line. The full updated menu is below.
The new-look Valerie Confections is open now at Grand Central Market. And if you can’t make the trip there (or maybe just can’t find parking) the team has also opened their new chocolate-focused wonderland nearby on 1st Street as well.
