Looks like some San Francisco trouble is headed our way, with news today that Bay Area favorite Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen will be running with a one-day pop-up at Genghis Cohen on Fairfax. The all-day party runs Saturday, December 17 only.
The Wise Sons collaboration party is born mostly out of a communal love for the larger Jewish culinary diaspora, with two former Jewish Angelenos running the bagel shop up in the Bay. They’re coming back down to run this Saturday situation at what has long been one of LA’s premier classic New York-style Chinese-American haunts, which after 30 years is now being overseen by the team behind The Spare Room in Hollywood.
Expect a big brunch extravaganza, with tickets running $40 a person. That doesn’t include cocktails from bar impresario Yael Vengroff, but will include shared plates of chopped liver toast, bagel chips with smoked trout, and classic Chinese chicken salad. You’ll also get a shot at vegetable hash with poached eggs, house-smoked pastrami rubes, and breakfast fried rice, among other delicacies. Expect some serious chocolate babka as a finisher, with coffee from Coffee Manufactory along the way.
Want in on the all-day Wise Sons brunch party going down at Genghis Cohen? You can start holding tables as early as 9 a.m., with reservations made via OpenTable.
