Big news for already over-caffeinated Los Feliz, as it seems that none other than Blue Bottle will be making a home on Hillhurst soon.

The new outlet hits inside an Art Deco building across from the Albertson’s there, and well within sippin’ distance of not only a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at the corner, but also the McCall’s-owned Twenty40 coffee shop just down the block. Add to that Stamp Proper Foods up near Los Feliz Boulevard, Maru Coffee across from Alcove, and the new Go Get Em Tiger on Hollywood Boulevard (to say nothing of Caffe Vita and Dinosaur Coffee as well), and suddenly that part of town seems a whole lot more jittery than before.

Still it’s likely a smart move for Blue Bottle, as the big-name specialty brand has a ton of recognition already with the clientele there. The next closest Blue Bottle in Echo Park does brisk business despite being next door to another coffee shop, and the 1,000 square foot iteration here on Hillhurst should carry the same clean aesthetic and crowded interior. There will even be a small back patio.

The Eastsider first reported on the opening via a city filing, noting that proposed hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is no official timetable for when they’ll be opening, though Blue Bottle has other projects in the works around the city so it could be a bit.
