Looks like the holiday season isn’t quite over yet, as The Halal Guys team keeps giving out new locations like presents for the city of Los Angeles. The next stop on their never-ending quest to own the chicken-and-rice market: the thick of West Hollywood.
Eater has learned exclusively that The Halal Guys will take over the closed Champagne French Bakery Cafe address right on Santa Monica Boulevard, just steps from the core bars that define that part of West Hollywood. That means late night post-Abbey (or after Catch lets out around the corner) meals filled with rice, chicken, and white sauce.
The new outpost marks the fifth expansion into Southern California for the Halal Guys team, following their initial opening success in Orange County and Long Beach. Their Koreatown corner stop is also booming, with planned 2017 locations including Downtown and Glendale to boot.
The continued expansion of the New York City famous Halal Guys brand shows just how much money the franchise is working with. It also points to the enduring dominance of fast casual brands that operate at mid-level price points, even in tougher markets with high rents. The new stop in West Hollywood should continue the trend of high-volume halal madness, keeping late night weekend hours like all the rest.
