Beyoncé and Jay Z dine at Plan Check

Sawtelle was apparently abuzz with paparazzi on Monday as Jay Z and Beyoncé had lunch with their daughter Blue Ivy at Plan Check. According to People Magazine, the family shared some doughnuts, fries, and burgers, because what else are you going to get at Plan Check?

LA's best beer bars

LAist has wrapped up an odd number of the city's best beer bars, from Verdugo Bar and Uncle Henry's Deli to Southland Beer and Beer Belly in Koreatown. The latter, of course, is doing so well that there are plans to open a second outlet down in Long Beach soon.

Avec Nous is starting to take shape

Beverly Hills’ Livello is still down for the count at the L’Ermitage Hotel, having shuttered for a revamp and a new name: Avec Nous. Now things are starting to come together, with the upcoming restaurant showing off some temporary sneak peek signage for the space. Look for Avec Nous to take over sometime in March, likely.

Hinoki & The Bird’s new tasting menu launches

Century City’s Hinoki & The Bird is working on a new tasting menu format, to be called ICHIBA. The dinner series will only be available on Wednesday nights (that’s because the team is going to the farmers market that morning and crafting the menu that afternoon), but will run five courses and cost $95. The first reservation-required meal kicks off on February 17.

KevinEats hits KOW Korean BBQ

Upscale Korean BBQ spot KOW on Olympic gets the KevinEats treatment, with the spendy eater enjoying just about everything at the place, from the array of banchan to the marinated prime beef shortribs.

Phantom Carriage celebrates one year in business

It's been a busy first year for Phantom Carriage, the South Bay sour beer stalwart known for its rare beer offerings and hauntingly funky interior. Scheduled for Saturday, March 12, the $36 ticketed event includes tastings, food, and more.
