Classic Coffee closed
Once Verve Coffee moved in across the street Downtown, it felt like the clock might be ticking on Classic Coffee. Ultimately the stark white shop went away without so much as a peep a week or so ago, as windows for the place are now papered over with advertisements.
LA's best barbecue
There's always room for more great barbecue in Los Angeles, as evidenced by this new Best Of list from LA Weekly. Though there are some semi-recent newcomers — Maple Block Meat Co., Max City, Barrel & Ashes, etc. — the list is mostly populated by longtime names like Bludso's and Phillips.
dineLA Raises $13,000 for the Midnight Mission
As part of their ongoing campaign to give back, dineLA promised in their latest winter round to give $1 from each OpenTable reservation to the Midnight Mission. After tallying up all that eating and seating, dineLA reports they shipped over $13,000 to the program.
Vegas Uncork'd tickets now on sale
Bon Appetit’s ongoing Vegas wine party, Uncork’d, is celebrating their 10th year in the game with perhaps the biggest event yet. Chefs like Giada De Laurentiis, Emeril Lagasse, Guy Savoy, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten have already confirmed, with the Grand Tasting going down at Caesars Palace and costing $225.

Mrs. Winston expands into Downtown
A longtime Westside healthy-eating staple, Mrs. Winston’s Green Grocery is expanding into Downtown with a new location at 888 Figueroa. Brigham Yen details the newcomer, which will expand from the usual salad bar fare into something more complete, with sandwiches and soups and the like.
Ride & Dine at Charcoal BBQ
Lyft and Caviar are apparently in cahoots over an anti-Valentine’s Day dinner at Charcoal BBQ in Venice, and all you’ve got to do is RSVP. Space is limited, they say, but you can score a free ride thereon Sunday and free food once you’re on site.
Wilde Wine Bar does lunch and brunch
Wine bar Wilde has been quietly chugging along on La Brea since April, but now comes word that they're expanding into lunch and brunch hours as of yesterday. The daytime menu is a mix of simple salads, a burger, meatballs, and a $28 plate of steak frites.
