Newcomer Spread Mediterranean Kitchen has big plans for the former Tione’s on Main in Downtown, transforming the never-quite-got-there restaurant space into a Mediterranean-flavored free for all.
First-time owners Dan Coury and Brandon Parker have teamed with former chef de cuisine at The Roof at the Peninsula Beverly Hills Brandon Weaver to craft a fine-casual restaurant that keeps some of the former Tione’s touches, while adding plenty of their own. Bar consultant Adam Sandroni helped to craft the full-alcohol bar menu as well, which will lean on Middle Eastern flavors like harissa in its compact menu.
The full menu is below, but expect modern, simple takes on Middle Eastern favorites like falafel and hummus, along with a few fun ideas like za’atar fried chicken. The lunch menu is meant for those needing an in-and-out kind of meal, with options to pick proteins and ‘styles’ within a choice of wraps, rice bowls, or salads.
Once alive and kicking, Spread will join the likes of Madcapra and Dune as great options for eating modern Middle Eastern food in Los Angeles. Of course Ori Menashe of Bestia is still planning his long-awaited Arts District spot too, and there's always plenty of great Middle Eastern eats up in the Valley.
Spread officially opens for lunch this Wednesday, with daily hours from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Full service will commence on Saturday, with daily hours from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. from then on.
