Nighthawk expands their hours

Hollywood's new late night breakfast concept space Nighthawk is stretching its wings, expanding into longer hours Wednesday through Saturday. Now open 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., the Las Palmas hotspot is taking reservations and serving eggs until the wee hours. Get in by calling 323-467-0400 or emailing

Rakken Tacos plans to bring the mashup taco genre to a whole new level, as the 626 Night Market veteran has opened a small shop in the city of Commerce. LAist has details on the strip mall space, which opened last night next to the Citadel — including some photos.

EP & LP hosts Contra team

Louis Tikaram will play host to Jeremiah Stone and Fabian von Hauske from NYC’s Contra next Monday for a seven-course meal. Calling the dinner a "Chinese banquet," the $80 affair will include everything from oysters and caviar to pork spare ribs and stir-fried morning glory. Reservations can be made through the restaurant.

Mohan Ismail beat Bobby Flay

Turns out, Ismail, the chef from RockSugar in Culver City, had what it took to Beat Bobby Flay after all. To celebrate his recent televised victory, the chef will be rocking his winning dish — a seafood lo mein — for a limited time at the restaurant itself.

Porto’s hits Orange County

Cuban bakery brand Porto’s is expanding into Buena Park, with plans to open by fall of 2016. The new location, on Beach Boulevard, is already under heavy construction in the shadows of Knott’s Berry Farm — which should put it well ahead of the long-awaited West Covina Porto’s expansion that is slated to take over a former strip club.

Farmboy Kitchen now serving Hollywood

Who’s ready for some fried chicken and kimchi? Looks like Farmboy Kitchen is now up and running in Hollywood, as evidenced by their now-active social media pages. The full menu (for now, dinner is coming later) is below, and includes everything from roasted half chickens to bowls of truffle oil’d cream of asparagus soup.
