Hollywood-adjacent tourist artery Universal CityWalk is continuing to improve its culinary offerings, with news today that Meizhou Dongpo’s casual side concept Dongpo Kitchen is just about ready to serve.
Fan site InsideUniversal first picked up on the inbound restaurant option, posting these photos to Flickr that show the Coming Soon paper hanging over the windows. Work has been ongoing for a while, and now it looks, per this tweet, that the place is nearly ready to come to life.
The presumably fast casual decor is still pretty much hidden from view in the above shot, but the new wrapping does give away some of the possible menu items they’re planning to offer, including pork rolls, dumplings, onion pancakes, and lots of duck. That would be a pretty cool thing to see at Universal CityWalk, which has for years been known only for its wealth of large, uninspired chains — plus those cool Simpsons-themed restaurants nearby.
Eater reached out to Meizhou Dongpo proper to get more info on the upcoming concept, but so far hasn’t heard back. Regardless, look for an early spring arrival for the CityWalk restaurant, which will join Ludo Bird as a great new offering for the busy stretch.
