Here Is the Harold & Belle's Restoration We've All Been Waiting For

New, 1 comment

The longtime Jefferson Park beauty is back after an extended hiatus.

Farley Elliott is the Senior Editor at Eater LA and the author of Los Angeles Street Food: A History From Tamaleros to Taco Trucks. He covers restaurants in every form, from breaking news to the culture, people, and history that surrounds LA's dining landscape.

Take a look inside the redone Harold & Belle's in Jefferson Park, and you may not believe your eyes. From floor to ceiling the place has been touched up and reconsidered, with new fixtures, paint, and seating meant to usher the longtime restaurant into the next few decades.

After a planned shutter back in May of last year, there's been little word on when exactly the Creole favorite would be returning. That is until a few weeks ago, when word got out that not only would Harold & Belle's be coming back — they'd be doing it in a matter of weeks. The timing couldn't be more perfect, as Mardi Gras kicks off tomorrow and the Legaux family plans to open up their doors and party.

Luckily not much has changed on the menu; you can still expect the usual slew of New Orleans-style dishes done with a homey flair. There's an expanded bar of course, plus room for events and buyouts, but mostly this is the same Harold & Belle's that we've all come to love — just touched up and looking beautiful once more.
