Amelia Brings Legit Baked Goods to Beverly Blvd

In the former Susina Bakery space.

It was a sad day when beloved bakery Susina closed its doors after a 13-year run in December of last year. Well now, Mid-City pastry lovers have a new place to call home as of last week: Amelia Cafe and Bakery.

The project of pastry chef/owner Yoav Rogel, Amelia will offer breads, viennoiserie, pastries, and some of Susina's popular cakes, along with all-day cafe fare. Rogel, who trained in Israel and France, recently moved to Los Angeles after working as a pastry chef in New York at Eataly, Maison Kaiser, and Breads Bakery.

Amelia's specialties include Rogel's focaccia, sweet and savory rugelach, babka, and tarts. For lunch, the shakshuka and toasts with roasted beet and kale pesto seem to be early favorites.

Amelia Cafe and Bakery is now open daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
