North Hollywood has lost a gem, with official news today that Bow & Truss has disappeared from the Valley dining scene. It's quite the subtle end for the Latin-flavored lunch and dinner spot, which opened to a ton of fanfare back in 2012. Ultimately, the Knitting Factory Entertainment (The Federal Bar) restaurant simply went away for 'remodeling' and never came back.
Of course, the line between a true remodel and a closure is always a tricky one to navigate, though owners are often hesitant to say outright that their restaurant is no more. Instead, as is the case with Bow & Truss, an ominously barren website will be all that's left, indicating some construction inside but with no timetable for return.
Valleyites have been wondering about Bow & Truss since it first hit the skids last December, with one tipster even writing in to lament the under-watered plants dying out front. A call to their sister NoHo restaurant The Federal Bar eventually confirmed the closure, with no plans — remodeling be damned — to reopen. No word, of course, on whether or not inbound Chicago coffee operators Bow Truss were to blame in part for the decision to shutter.
