Silver Lake is in line to earn itself a nice new beer and wine bar, with news this morning that popular Thai food destination Rambutan Thai would be switching into a newcomer called Same Same. The swap will happen fast, too, with Same Same expected to come online by April 13.
The strip mall corner location will still serve a selection of Thai bar snacks, street food favorites, and rotating specials for drinkers to dine on, but the focus undoubtedly now will be on the drinks. Rambutan owners Katy Noochlaor and Annie Daniel will be sticking around, too, partnering up with Last Word Hospitality (Holly Zack, Adam Weisblatt, and Australian barman Angus McShane) to bring Same Same to life.
No word yet on how much the space itself will be changing, though with the existing bar and mood lighting inside it’s always had a sort of wine bar feel. Same Same will join a suddenly crowded wine bar field in Los Angeles, with nearby newcomers like Bar Bandini already drawing praise for their similar wine bar vibes and dedicated local clientele. And just yesterday, Vee Delgadillo opened her own wine bar option Downtown, called The Overflow. Expect Same Same to open mid-April.
