Is Sherman Oaks ready for a Hollywood tequila bar? Let’s hope so, as it seems that none other than Walk of Fame drinkery Te’kila has taken over the forlorn Stanley’s space on Ventura Boulevard.
This ABC license does indeed indicate that TKLA Group Inc. is taking over, with Te’kila co-owner Kevin Zadoyan listed on the paperwork. It’s long been rumored that Stanley's would be falling into their hands, though the players involved weren’t confirmed until just a couple of weeks ago.
Eater reached out to Zadoyan about plans for the restaurant, which is currently under heavy construction. He says that much of the Te'kila original will be present in the new location in Sherman Oaks, though likely toned down to better fit the neighborhood. Tentative plans as of now have the restaurant running until midnight most nights, with a possible extension to 2 a.m. on weekends. Spacecraft is behind the build-out, and they've also added a small back craft cocktail bar space, with plans for mezcal drinks and occasional tastings.
As for the menu, expect casual Mexican fare, but with the addition of handmade tortillas. There will also be a few holdover menu items from the former Stanley's days, as locals have been clamoring for this or that particular dish since the original shuttered a ways back. Former Stanley's regulars may even find themselves face to face with a few former employees, as Te'kila looks to actively hire from within the former Stanley's ranks. Expect Te'kila Sherman Oaks to arrive by April, with plans for a big Cinco de Mayo blowout.
