Simplethings is gone in Santa Monica

Though the company has experienced some awesome growth over the past few years, it seems that not every location of Simplethings has been a success. As Toddrickallen points out, their Wilshire and Lincoln corner location has up and disappeared from the map.

More on Counter Culture's upcoming Silver Lake training center

LA Weekly takes a deeper look at Counter Culture's upcoming wholesale training center in Silver Lake, which has hopes to open rather soon. Firestone Walker is ever-so-close to opening

Yes, you've been waiting since forever. But soon enough — like within a few weeks — you and your craft beer drinkin' buddies will have access to all of that Firestone Walker action out in Venice. As a teaser, here's some of their recently installed furniture.

The Pizza Press rolls into West Hollywood

Local (but expanding) DIY pizza franchise The Pizza Press is landing at the Target complex at Santa Monica / La Brea in West Hollywood. Joining a severely crowded fast casual pizza market, the local option seeks to differentiate itself with a variety of toppings and preconceived options — all with newsy names like The Times and The Sun, of course. Opening in May.

According to an LA Times follow up, Hiroshi Motohashi was previously convicted of selling endangered animals a decade ago, including Gila monster lizards. Wowza.

Where Caroline on Crack drinks whiskey

Newly minted drinks editor at LA Magazine Caroline Pardilla chats with Citizine about her favorite places to drink whiskey in Los Angeles. Some highlights? Bar Jackalope, of course, but also the upscale Ten Pound Bar in Beverly Hills.

Conscious Cup comes to Hollywood

There's a new coffee option on Vine as of a month or so ago, with the arrival of social enterprise cafe space Conscious Cup. Situated just south of Santa Monica Boulevard on Vine in Hollywood, the company works with Step Up on Vine to provide permanent job placement for lower income workers, and apparently even has a rooftop garden. Weekday hours only, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at 1057 Vine St.
