It’s a sad end for Bollini’s Pizzeria Napolitana in Monterey Park, as Yelp now reports the restaurant has closed. You’ll find further confirmation of the shutter on the Bollini website, where a long goodbye has been pinned to the front.
It reads, in part:
Bollini’s Pizzeria Napolitana would like to thank everyone that has supported me throughout these nine years. I have been touched by so many people in so many ways thought the years that it could never be explained in words. I have been truly blessed to have lived and brought my dream to life.
Those words are from owner Chris Bollini, a Le Cordon Bleu grad who studied the art of pizza-making in Italy before coming home to Monterey Park to roost his restaurant nine years ago. The place had a strong run, too, earning praise from S. Irene Virbila back in 2009 as one of a handful of pizza spots that were helping to up the game in Los Angeles. As recently as 2012, Bollini’s was even expanding into neighboring storefronts to keep up with demand.
Sadly that’s all gone now. Bollini won’t say exactly why he was forced to shutter his namesake space, only noting that there were "circumstances beyond our control." The final day of service was February 27.
