Looks like chef Luke Reyes is moving on from Butchers & Barbers. Sources confirm that Reyes is no longer on site at the popular Hollywood dinner and drink spot, with chef de cuisine Brian Maynard stepping in to fill the executive chef role.

The split between Reyes and the Houston Hospitality team behind Butchers & Barbers is by all accounts an amicable one, as the chef instead hopes to focus his energies on opening up a place of his own. No word on what that will look like or when it will land, however.

The transition shouldn't affect things at the popular Hollywood Boulevard haunt, which represents one of the best places to eat in that stretch of town; after all, Maynard has already been working the kitchen nightly for the past few months. The restaurant's cocktails are still fantastic (as to be expected with the normally nightlife-focused Houston brothers), and critics seem to be mostly smitten with the place, so it will be interesting to see the place continue as is with Maynard at the helm.
