It's been a quick flip for Rambutan Thai in Silver Lake, with the strip mall stalwart morphing nearly overnight into Same Same, a wine bar with a bit of edge. Rambutan's original owners Katy Noochlaor and Annie Daniel are still on the scene, but they've pared back their menu to mostly street snacks and other Thai favorites like Isaan sausage and khao soi to hoy tod mussel pancakes. The full menu menu is below.

On the bar side, Last Word Hospitality (Holly Zack, Adam Weisblatt, and Australian barman Angus McShane) have crafted a wine-focused menu full of playful and relatively inexpensive options. There's beer too, of course, making this a casual place to sip, eat, and hang out with friends.

To that end, the teams have pulled forward the bar seating right to the front of the restaurant, converting the back half into bartops for standing and sitting. There's still a long, wrapping banquette for sit-down dining, but Same Same is mostly bar now, meaning lots of stools, a little neon, and those classic stained glass hanging pendant lights that are equal parts kitschy and iconic. For those just looking for a little taste of Rambutan, you'll still be able to order takeout or delivery orders as well.

Same Same officially opens in Silver Lake on Thursday, keeping evening-only hours from 5 p.m. until late daily.
