Seasons 52 has had a rough go of things in Los Angeles lately, shuttering their Century City outlet late last year. Their Ocean Avenue address in Santa Monica is similarly desolate these days, but not for long — it seems the folks behind Water Grill and Pier Burger are taking over.

Though their upscale seafood operation Water Grill is just one block away on Ocean Avenue — and Pier Burger is, well, out on the pier — it seems restaurant group King’s Seafood Company was still interested in the property. It’s not hard to see why, considering the place offers great views, easy access to the all-important tourist dollar out that way, and lots of room inside.

As for the concept moving in, that’s still in flux. King’s Seafood Co. says they’re still in development phase on that front, but promise that it won’t overlap with any of their existing projects. The Orange County-based company not only owns the aforementioned Santa Monica restaurants, they’re also behind 555 East steakhouse in Long Beach and Lou & Mickey’s, a surf and turf spot in San Diego. Expect the newcomer to the former Seasons 52 space, whatever it ends up being, not to hit until sometime in early 2017.
