sbe's Mercado di Vetro has been sitting vacant on Santa Monica Boulevard since the restaurant shuttered back in 2013. A few clubs and Vegas projects later, the hospitality company will try its hand in the space a second time with its newest concept, Doheny Room. Here are five things to know about the upcoming restaurant and lounge:
The menu is has a little bit of everything
According to the press release, the fare is inspired by "Los Angeles' famous food truck scene and the diversity of unrelated eating options these trucks make available in a single space." That means the menu is a hodgepodge that runs that gamut from Korean kobe sliders to lobster poutine.
They didn't forget about the vegans
No surprises here. The nightlife company is assuring those with vegetarian and vegan leanings will find a happy home at the trendy new restaurant. That means plenty of kale and even vegan sushi.
The chef is sbe's own Danny Elmaleh
Sound familiar? That's because chef Elmaleh is the man behind Cleo and other sbe ventures, meaning it's likely that Cleo's Mediterranean flavors will make an appearance on the international spread.
There are plenty of Edward Doheny Jr-inspired libations
The bar menu by Cocktail Academy pays tribute to the LA mogul who made a fortune off oil with cocktails like the Black Gold with fresh muddled cherries and Effen Black Cherry Vodka, and the Loma Vista, a mix of mezcal, pineapple juice, and pressed ginger.
You won't have to wait long
The high-heeled masses will descend upon sbe's newest eatery when it opens to the public on Monday, April 25.
