Hoke Poke Continues Downtown's Fresh Fish Renaissance at 8th and Hope

Coming later this summer to South Park

The revved up poke trend around Los Angeles seems to be sitting comfortably in high gear, as Downtown lands yet another option. This one’s called, cheekily enough, Hoke Poke, and plans to open right in South Park.

The larger-than-average restaurant space sits right in between a Jersey Mike’s and Downtown’s own Philz Coffee, which means there should be plenty of foot traffic for the raw fish-over-rice purveyors. 8th and Hope is a rather busy corner address in general, with tons of new options nearby including Whole Foods, a Dunkin’ Donuts, plus upcoming spots like Shake Shack and Sweetgreen.

Brigham Yen says the 1,200 square foot space is being designed by STUDIOUNLTD, the same design firm that put together Bestia in the Arts District. The plan for this new restaurant is to be a bit more open-minded than some of the others, working pre-decided poke bowl options plus a build-your-own model, alongside hand rolls and suddenly-hot poke burritos. Look for Hoke Poke to arrive sometime in late summer.
