David Chang's Favorite Galbi Tang Finds Home in SGV, and More From the SGV

A sushi-burrito and rolled ice cream double header opens in San Gabriel; Spicy Girl Is Dead

And now, a semi-regular update from San Gabriel Valley's vibrant restaurant scene:

1) San Gabriel: Sun Nong Dan, Ktown's 24-hour cafe known for spicy galbi tang and suhlungtang, is coming to San Gabriel. The Korean culinary push into SGV continues with Sung Nong Dan, a David Chang fave, taking over the temporaneous Hongsam Galbi. This location, next to a busy supermarket, seems to not be able retain lessees after the departure of Tokyo Lobby. Neither Hongsam nor Fuji West lasted more than a year. Beer and wine license has been approved and the restaurant should be opening in May per the Ktown branch. There is no news as to whether the SGV outlet will be 24-7 as well. 927 E Las Tunas Dr. Ste J & K

2) San Gabriel: Zumo Zuzhi Burrito & IFreeze has taken over Souper Shabu. This is a combination "sushi burrito" and a Thai rolled ice cream dual concept shop. 288 S San Gabriel Ave Ste 102

Regent Coffee, San Gabriel Regent Coffee, San Gabriel

3) San Gabriel: Oasis Tea has flipped concept into a third wave coffee shop. Despite the success of De Cafe Barista which opened in Monterey Park in 2013, Regent Coffee is only the second specialty/self-roasting coffee shop to open in the West San Gabriel area. Partners Matthew Situ and Leon Nie are also offering pre-ground individual coffee "Selphy" bags for those who do not wish to enjoy a bit of urban oasis when sipping on their single origin cup of joe. 1841 S San Gabriel Blvd Ste E

Na Mama, Monterey Park

4) Monterey Park : Spicy Girl is now the new Na Mama, a Chinese-style seafood pot restaurant with additional Sichuan dishes on the menu. The largest pot (with 2 lobster, 2 crab, scallops, shrimps and mussels) tops out at $218, and comes with its own sternos. This is Mama's second location; the first, at the old Yummy (Rosemead) location, is aptly named Spicy Hot Mama306 N. Garfield Ave.

5) San Gabriel: Chang'An is hosting its second wine pairing dinner on April 24 at 5 P.M. ETAcar will be providing free rides to/from Chang'An within the SGV. $30, 224 W Valley Blvd #358

Jasmine House, Alhambra

6) Alhambra: Jasmine House is opening at the old Honey Badger Cafe and doubling the square footage of the old space at the same time. A 234-dish large Cantonese menu is being offered at Jasmine House, which is completely different from the small noodle and dumpling heavy menu found at West Covina's popular Jasmine Garden. 11 W Main St

7)  San Gabriel: After Icho Izakaya moved to Temple City a few months ago, the former location has become Yichi Me Izakaya. The house attractions are live lobster and live ebi sweet, both served sashimi style. They're also serving shabu shabu. 708 E Las Tunas Dr, #D

Osho, Monterey Park

8) Monterey Park: Osho Sushi, closed late last year, has found a new buyer. While the name on the ABC license shows no change to the restaurant name, there is little indication of what the future holds. Construction is ongoing, and it is currently hiring. 112 N Chandler Ave #101

9) Monterey Park: Ding's has been sold and flipped into Ling An. The Chinese name remains the same, as does the Sichuanese menu. 117 N Lincoln Ave
