Sunny newcomer Honeybird is ready to rule the roost in La Cañada, serving up comfort fare from a Southern-inspired storefront right on Foothill Boulevard.

The former Anthony's Food & Wine has been completely rethought, with room now for nearly 40 guests across situated in a casual space meant for relaxing over plates of fried chicken. A long bench anchors the far wall with a variety of two and four-tops, while understated barn chairs and a wrap of wainscoting at the counter keep the place consistently rustic.

Chef/owner Phil Lee's menu is anchored by fried chicken, of course, served piecemeal or as larger set dinners and takeaway picnic packs. You'll also find a variety of sandwiches (a rethought filet o' fish among them), salads, sides, and pies for lunch, with a lightly expanded dinner and brunch menu to boot. Honeybird also enjoys an active ABC license for beer and wine. The full menu is below.

Honeybird officially opens Friday for lunch and dinner, with brunch to follow in a few weeks. The restaurant is closed on Sundays and Mondays, with hours from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Expect truncated hours for the first few weeks as the restaurant comes fully online.
