Late night Koreatown coffee stalwart Iota Brew Cafe is moving on from their longstanding Western Avenue address. But rather than put down roots somewhere else in the city, it seems owner Brian Chong is up and moving to Texas of all places.
The news was first announced yesterday on Iota's Facebook page, with an insider confirming that indeed the restaurant will be closing down by May 1. That means anyone enamored with the Korean all-day spot's dizzying array of brick toasts, pizzas, rice bowls, and wines should plan on show up sooner rather than later.
All may not be lost forever though, as there are rumors of a new tenant coming to the space called The Horse's Mouth. Details are scarce on that one at the moment, but if true it would mark yet another interesting turnover for that stretch of Koreatown proper. Here's Looking at You still has plans to enter the neighborhood sometime in spring, while recent omakase specialist Sushi One is already up and running around the corner. Even Beer Belly's own Jimmy Han has been busy on the block, taking the reins at dive bar legend Frank N Hanks last fall.
