Maré’s anniversary feast

Melrose neighborhood spot Maré is celebrating one year behind the door in the back of Greenspan’s Grilled Cheese, and to make the timing even more perfect they’ve rolled out a new spring feast to celebrate. The multi-course meal runs $85 for two and includes dishes like clams with roasted lamb and rabbit pastilla. On May 1 proper, the official opening day from last year, the team is passing lambrusco around to everyone who stops in for dinner.

Shutters on the Beach gets a new chef

Incoming chef Vittorio Lucariello has officially landed at the beach, stepping in to helm 1 Pico and Coast at Shutters at the Beach. The Italian-born chef was previously executive sous at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons property.

Mother's Day sounds fun at Au Fudge

Mother’s Day is May 8, which means you better start getting your plans in order now. One option? A ticketed party at Au Fudge, which runs $75 for the moms and $40 for the kids. The party involves DIY facials, massages, face painting for the kids, and, of course, food. You can grab your tickets now if you’d like.

More Cinco de Mayo madness

The Maradentro / Yxta Cocina family of restaurants is getting deep into the cinco de mayo game, launching deals across their entire slate of spots. Margaritas run $6 to $8 depending on where you are, and Downtown stalwart Yxta Cocina is even doing $6 shots, plus tacos and more.

The Corner Door’s new Goonies menu

Yes, you read that right: Culver City’s The Corner Door has a new Goonies-themed cocktail menu, and it’s honestly pretty awesome. There’s the Astoria Country Club, a green tea-infused pisco; the Truffle Shuffle, a chocolate-y whiskey option’ and the Mama Fratelli, which involves espresso-infused vermouth and rye. The full menu went live last weekend.

M.B. Post tips the cap to five long years

It’s been half a decade in Manhattan Beach for M.B. Post already, and to help celebrate chef David LeFevre is doing a medley of longtime restaurant favorites over two ticketed tasting times (5 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.) on Monday, May 9. There’s going to be an auction and Bailey from the Kings will be there too, with proceeds going to The Kings Care Foundation. Tickets are $165 a person and includes unlimited food and drink (21 and over only).

It's an adult playground at Le Meridien in Santa Monica now

Desperately in need of a place where an adult can be a kid, it seems Santa Monica's new SandBox at Le Meridien Delfina Santa Monica is precisely that. There are pool tables, bar sports like darts and shuffleboard, plus huge interactive TVs. The place even keeps all-day hours, which means you can grab some eggs, play some games, and stick around for a drink afterwards.
