The rising tide of Southern cooking has finally washed ashore in La Cañada Flintridge, with the arrival of casual newcomer Honeybird to the area later this month. Situated inside the former Anthony’s Fine Food & Wine on Foothill Boulevard, the hillside destination restaurant hopes to turn out everything from fried chicken to housemade pies.
There’s not too much known about the newcomer just yet, though there’s already an active website for the restaurant. It’s there that they tout the pies and ‘signature’ fried chicken, though their Instagram also shows off some early fans of the stuff.
From what anyone has been able to gather, the restaurant is the work of one Pilyoung (Phil) Lee, a Crescenta Valley high school graduate who attended UC Santa Barbara with hopes of cooking one day. That’s the given name on the ABC license for the space, and it matches with the restaurant’s Flour & Oil Restaurant Group LLC on most of their paperwork.
The Honeybird website also details proposed hours for the place, running Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. (brunch, anyone?) to 11 p.m. Check back in soon as more details on what should be a welcome new addition to the community come together.
Feel like trying to land a job for Honeybird? As of now, they’re still hiring up for prep cooks and counter service jobs, which means this casual lunch and dinner option should be close to coming to fruition.
