Here’s a small but important change: Bachi Burger on Sawtelle is apparently no more. The Las Vegas-based company and the ownership team behind the West LA location seemingly couldn’t keep whatever deal they had in place, and must have decided to break apart. That means from the ashes comes Ohana Burger, with much the same menu of Asian-inspired beef burgers as before.
The split is significant because it marks the first time in Los Angeles that one of Bachi’s outlets have spun off on their own. There is a second Bachi location still in Pasadena, but otherwise Ohana is a completely solo entity. A call to the restaurant confirms that they haven’t truly been part of the Bachi brand since December, though most of the preparations and menu items have carried over from the previous iteration.
Interestingly enough, the Bachi website still lists the West LA location on their website, though it's tagged with the phrase 'UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP' at the bottom. Hours remain the same (lunch through dinner daily) at the new Ohana Burger. Which, of course, is not to be confused with the two-location Ohana Poke Co.
