Icy Rush Co. adds to LA's ice cream game

There's a new dessert shop in Echo Park called Icy Rush Co., says The Eastsider. The simple Sunset Boulevard spot is rolling out all-organic flavors and some dairy-free options to boot, with hours from 11 a.m. until evening most days. 2148 Sunset Blvd.

Pizza Romana, right this way

Have you stopped into Pizza Romana on La Brea lately? There's something special going on inside says Food Republic, who walks through the pizza-making process with owner Alex Palermo. You can do the same thing yourself if you'd like — all you've got to do is ask.

Amazebowls almost ready for Arts District

Graphics are up for Amazebowls at One Santa Fe in the Arts District. The healthy-eating food truck turns out açai bowls and smoothies and the like, and has plans to expand into the standalone location Downtown by summer. They'll also be opening up on the Venice boardwalk at some point, while keeping the truck up and running as well.

Street Level Cafe is close in Echo Park

Just below the Sunset bridge on Glendale Boulevard in Echo Park sits Street Level Cafe. While still papered over (and a long time in the making) the place is nearly ready to unwind itself as a casual neighborhood option. The focus, they say, is on inexpensive breakfast and lunch options meant to satisfy everyone, rather than something more upscale and, possibly, pretentious.

We are almost ready....beware

LA's bread game is strong

Just ask LA Weekly, who list here the best sourdough loaves in Los Angeles. Though more traditionally considered a Bay Area staple, there are plenty of places down here doing right by their sourdough, including Clark Street Bread, Milo & Olive, and Gjusta.

Katie Parla parties at Superba

Noted Rome-lover Katie Parla is in town, and she's celebrating the release of her cookbook Tasting Rome at Superba in Venice on May 8. The $65 party nets you a signed copy of the book, some small bites, plus beer and wine. You can get your tickets here.

Golden Road goes big at Dodger Stadium

One advantage to getting bought by a gigantic beer corporation? Stuff like this new Golden Road-outfitted standalone bar at Dodger Stadium. The bar will be selling a variety of approved craft and non-craft beers, including of course a whole host of golden Road options.
