Last anyone knew, Koreatown’s Iota Brew Cafe had closed down to make way for a largely unknown concept that was yet to be determined. That turned out to be Horse’s Mouth, as the large banner hanging next to the shuttered space can attest, and today Eater has info on just what exactly Horse’s Mouth will look like.
The evening-only dinner and drink spot comes by way of Charlie Yusta and his team, who have spent years working the high-end Hollywood and New York City catering circuit under the name Chefs on the Run Catering. They’re branching out now with Horse’s Mouth, a kind of pan-Asian dinner option serving everything from crispy duck to hoisin pork ribs. There will also be a prodigious raw bar side to the whole operation, with crudo, oysters, and more on offer. A full opening menu is below.
Beyond the food, Horse’s Mouth hopes to bring a variety of eclectic beer, wine, and sakes to the fore. Much of the craft beer collection will come from overseas, especially Japan, though there will be some room for the usual Hite bottles on the menu.
Considering Iota’s polished interior, the Chefs on the Run team didn’t need to make too many changes. That means they’ll be opening imminently — sometime mid-July, likely — with a dinner space capable of holding over 100 folks at a clip, plus a sizable outdoor patio. Hours will be evening only to start, and will expand from there into brunch. If all goes well, they’ll even add lunch to the bustling 6th and Western stretch, which already includes Beer Belly, Sushi One, and the forthcoming Here’s Looking at You.
