If you’re one of the handful of Angelenos who still haven’t ever tried poke, the Hawaiian fresh fish snack, here’s your chance. Newcomer AhiPoki Bowl, which only just landed across the street from the Home Depot on Sunset Boulevard, is handing out 500 free bowls beginning at 11 a.m. sharp. Yep, 500 bowls — that’s enough for you and your friends and your neighbors and anyone else you come across between now and then, even if there’s a line.
Of course it’s only one bowl per customer, but if you show up with all those friends it’ll be a true party. The giveaway is part of a broader grand opening celebration for AhiPoki (there’s a ribbon cutting at 10:45am with the Chamber of Commerce if you’re interested in that), as the company expands across the West. There are outlets in Temple City and Scottsdale, AZ already, with more planned for the USC campus, Upland, Moreno Valley, and more.
AhiPoki Bowl sits at 5553 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, and will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily moving forward. And if you can't make this opening, don't worry: there are lots (and lots) of other poke options to choose from around town, and none of them are very expensive.
