Thai Town continues with its recent rise, as the neighborhood gains yet another top notch option along Hollywood Boulevard. A new wine bar concept dubbed Tabula Rasa will be taking over a storefront space just west of Normandie, with plans to open as soon as next month.

Tabula Rasa comes from former Bestia teammates Zach Negin and Daniel Flores, who spent years together working the floor and drinking wine at the Arts District hotspot. Together they’re hoping to make this new casual wine bar something their own, filled with high-low options that are sure to please everyone.

The deep space is framed largely by a mural along one side, which overlooks the extended bar and long banquette against the far wall. The rest of the room holds a glassed-in wine case towards the back, which will be temperature-controlled and hold everything from rare bottles to easy-drinking favorites available by the liter. Out through the back door is a smallish patio, with enough room to sit, smoke, and take in a bit of the night.

Construction is still underway, though Negin and Flores believe they should have things wrapped up soon enough. once the place comes to life, expect Tabula Rasa to aim at  becoming a true neighborhood staple, hovering somewhere between Harvard & Stone and Jumbo’s Clown Room, both a short walk away. The bar will also be adjacent from Friends and Family, an incoming East Hollywood concept from former Cook’s County duo Daniel Mattern and Roxana Jullapat.
