Mar Vista's Status Kuo returns to the Westside scene with a new bar, revamped menu, and a fresh outlook. Take a look inside, then peruse the brand new menu.

Mar Vista's Status Kuo briefly turned off the lights earlier this year to make time for a major facelift. The primarily rotisserie-focused Westside eatery had plans to add a bar and expand their space, but in the process has completely overhauled their menu as well.

The new look restaurant officially returns tomorrow following a short soft-opening period that kicked off last Friday. Tonight is a community friends and family event, followed by regular hours tomorrow and into the future.

So what's new with Status Kuo? The menu, for one. Owners Maki and David Kuo are hoping for a more izakaya feel that will pair various meats with the restaurant's new drink menu. That also means a greater focus on dinner, with new hours from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. weeknights, and 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. The full menu for the restaurant is below.

Inside, Status Kuo is as sleek and modernist as ever, though the newly expanded section carries a bit more color than the original. The L-shaped bar provides ample space to belly up for a drink, while a run of two tops along the opposite wall leaves plenty of room to linger over a plate of food. Status Kuo officially reopens tomorrow.
