Daikokuya, which one one of the only ramen players in town around ten years ago (in addition to the South Bay's Shin Sen Gumi), is finding new regions of town to plant their flag in. After drawing crowds at their newer Sawtelle location, the chainlet is planning to open "very soon" at the corner of Sunset and San Vicente, right in the heart of West Hollywood's Sunset Strip.
A phone call to the Little Tokyo original confirms the expansion, though they weren't able to say when exactly the noodle shop would debut. Location wise, it seems pretty great, as more compelling concepts continue to enter Sunset Strip despite its more touristy vibe. It should only be a matter of time before WeHo noodle hounds get their fill of porky ramen goodness.
