South LA is soon to receive a taco and tequila bar called Banditos Tacos & Tequila, which hopes to set up shop just south of the Coliseum by September.
The move is significant for many reasons, not least of which is the influx of new customers to the area once the new Los Angeles Rams begin their home game slate at USC’s Coliseum stadium this fall. That means the timing for the bar could be perfect, as would be the hours: 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. weeknights, and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends.
The idea is to make Banditos a true sports bar, filled with TVs and sound for all the games — including those LA Football Club matches coming nearby soon too. Of course there’s also going to be food, including weekend brunch, plus a full bar that leans heavily on tequila. Better still: a nightly taco truck parking in the lot behind the building until 1 a.m.
Banditos is the work of Anat Escher, who also operates Barbarella in Silver Lake, Bugatta on Melrose, and Charcoal barbecue, also in Silver Lake. Her new South LA sports bar is slated to open sometime this September.
