Laurel Point Is Studio City's New Seafood Stunner

A dinner destination lands inside a Studio City strip mall

Shore up soon inside Laurel Point, a new easygoing seafood option headed for Studio City on Monday. The nautically-inspired second floor space offers high ceiling and oysters galore. Laurel Point takes over for the defunct Daily Grill, which had been a mainstay on that stretch of Ventura Boulevard for years. The new eatery sits close to home, though, as the same parent company is behind Laurel Point and the overall Point Restaurants concept, which aims to bring the Studio City menu and vibe to cities all across America. In fact, though Laurel Point doesn’t officially open until next week, there are already plans to replicate the place in Denver later this year.

Hopefully it won’t be hard to reproduce, as the backbone of the place is rather simple: bring in high-quality seafood and don’t mess with it too much. That’s why you’ll find extensive raw bar and sushi options on the menu, which can be found below. You’ll also be able to work through a collection of cooked fish plates, plus a burger, lobster roll, salads, and a slew of lunchtime sandwiches. There’s even an ahi tuna poke burrito for anyone feeling frisky.

As for the space, expect an airy, bright bungalow motif. The main dining area holds a long, strong bar overtop some colorful tiling that replicates fish scales, while the rest of the room is for some rounded four tops, a long banquette, and bold windows on one end. On the patio, you’ll find booths and bar top seating, with a light breeze and boating elements to make you feel like you’re on the high seas instead of two floors up in Studio City.

Laurel Point opens Monday, August 1 for service. Weekday hours run 11:30 a.m. to close, with Saturday and Sunday starting off at 10 a.m. sharp.
