It's been a while since we've had news about smoke.oil.salt ever since opening chef Perfecto Rocher stepped out almost exactly one year ago. Well now an exciting change is coming to the space, with owners Stephen Gelber and AdVantage Partners Adam Fleischman and Lee Weinberg announcing the arrival of POCO Wine Bar headed to the Melrose restaurant on Monday, August 1.
Fans of smoke.oil.salt's exceptional Spanish cooking need not fear though, as POCO will only take over the west dining room with its own separate entrance, and smoke.oil.salt. will continue to operate in the east room. Rather than a formal dining experience, the wine bar will offer a tapas-style vibe with wallet-friendly dishes that come by way of smoke.oil.salt. chef Jonathan Vasquez, who trained under the restaurant's former consulting chef Ricardo Zarate.
Think dishes like chorizo-stuffed squid, papas bravas, and house-brined chicken wings, all for under $10. The real star here though is the quality wine list curated by Stephen Gelber at extremely affordable prices. Each week there will be one white wine at $5, one red at $6 and a sparking wine at $7. Talk about a nice way to start a night out.
POCO will be open from Sunday to Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
