Farley Elliott is the Senior Editor at Eater LA and the author of Los Angeles Street Food: A History From Tamaleros to Taco Trucks. He covers restaurants in every form, from breaking news to the culture, people, and history that surrounds LA's dining landscape.

It’s finally here: The Halal Guys, after months of teasing and a few close-to-Los-Angeles locations, are about to land in Koreatown. The Wilshire Boulevard address couldn’t be any more centrally located, which — combined with the extreme walkability of the neighborhood — should make for one very busy restaurant.

Step inside and you’ll find what has become the expanding restaurant franchise’s signature look of brushed metals and lots of red and white. It’s all a nod to the brand’s original as a New York City street cart, but streamlined and with lots of indoor seating. The corner location is also wrapped in glass, making it much brighter and warmer than some of the company’s first West Coast iterations.

To build excitement for the Friday launch, The Halal Guys even went so far as to make a commercial for the site. It’s called Take Me Home, and you can find it on YouTube now.

If you’re feeling eager to try the place yourself, you might want to think about lining up soon. The first 1,000 fans in line for the Friday opening at 11 a.m. will get some Halal Guys swag, with five of those in line chosen randomly to win free food for a month. After that, the place will start keeping daily hours until 4 a.m., which means there will always be more time in the day to stop in for some Halal Guys.
