Francis Mallmann is back in LA

Chef's Table favorite and all-around meat maestro Francis Mallmann is returning to LA on September 7 cook dinner with Wolfgang Puck, Nancy Silverton, and Eric Werner of Tulum's Hartwood on the front lawn of the Hotel Bel-Air. The pricey party costs $195 a head and runs for three hours, so get your tickets now.

Taco Lita's leader has passed

The owner of longtime taco stop Taco Lita in Arcadia has passed away. David Muniz-Harryman took over the restaurant from his parents in 2003 and was long a staple at the restaurant, though an accident a few  years ago slowed him down. A memorial is up now at the restaurant on Duarte Road, says the Pasadena Star-News.

Santa Ana's new hand roll specialist

Santa Ana continues to rise as a culinary destination all its own, as evidenced by the recent slew of new concepts coming into the Orange County city's downtown stretch. Among the newest is Kiyomizu, a new hand roll specialist that looks more than a little enticing.

The Nick + Stef’s patio situation

Have you checked out the patio at Downtown steak spot Nick + Stef’s? It’s pretty great this time of year, and made even better with the launch of the restaurant’s Sunset @ The Patio series, which brings live music, drinks, passed apps, and more to the outdoor space from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets run $20 and include food, with a rotation of awesome drinks — the first iteration on August 17 is all tiki-themed — available for purchase as well.

Some new Pakistani hits for Palms

Looks like someone is trying to keep the Pakistani flavor flag flying in Palms, with the recent opening of Taj Tandoori, a pan-Pakistani and Indian restaurant right on Venice. The expansive menu offers a variety of curries, plus tandoori favorites, rice dishes, samosa starters, and more.

Novacane is Huntington Park’s best new bar

Trencher is in the Batter’s Box

Echo Park casual option Trencher has made a name for itself in the neighborhood, but is now hoping to expand on the legions of fans trekking through for Dodgers games. Their new Batters Box option runs $15 for a sandwich, chips, side, and cookie, and is Dodger Stadium-compliant, which means you can bring in the boxes no problem.
