Dick Van Dyke Singing at a Denny's in Los Angeles Is Everything You Ever Wanted

The longtime Hollywood legend still has the pipes

What’s better than a plate of diner eggs and hash browns? How about Dick van Dyke singing while you eat.

That’s exactly what happened to some unsuspecting diners at a Denny’s in Santa Monica recently, with Hollywood acting icon van Dyke crooning along with his a cappella group The Vantastix at a table near the back. The whole thing seems legitimately informal (as opposed to, say, a staged singalong put on by the Denny’s corporation), and it’s gosh darn adorable to watch the legend himself still hit all the right notes to "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." They even have some half-finished plates of food on the table!

As for the diners in the restaurant? Some of them are legitimately just trying to enjoy their Moons Over My Hammy in peace, but most seem to really enjoy watching van Dyke play the hits. There are lots of cameras out, of course, and at the end The Vantastix receive quite the ovation. Not a bad way to spend a morning, that’s for sure.

Oh, and just for good measure? Check out this adorable gif from the group's own website. If you want to see them live yourself, they've got a show at the Cerritos Center on August 28. Otherwise you'll just have to track them down next time at your local Denny's.
