Playboy's Best Bars

Playboy is working on a list of America's best bars, and they include some local favorites. Break Room 86 is up for the award, as is the Old Man Bar at Hatchet Hall, and Viviane. If you'd like, you can vote until August 31.

The San Pedro Fish Market is still here

Demolition has started along the waterline in San Pedro to make way for some big new development. That means the tearing-down of the famous Ports O'Call and all the shops within, but don't worry: The San Pedro Fish Market will remain operational for quite a while yet, as the longtime fried and fresh fish stop looks to keep serving customers for as long as possible.

It's The Taste of the Arts District

Got plans this coming weekend? You might want to break them for the Taste of the Arts District instead. The Saturday party costs $40 and runs from noon until 9 p.m., with more than 20 restaurants dishing out food and drink to taste, plus a run of shops and bands and all that jazz.

LA's awesome new ceviche cart

There's a new ceviche operator hitting the streets, except this one isn't in a food truck at all. Instead it's a pushcart called Ceviche Stop, manned by well-known chef Walther Adrienzen. He's been making Peruvian ceviches for years, and now has plans to hopefully bring a Ceviche Stop to every city he can, including all over Los Angeles.

LA's over-hyped food

Zagat goes in hard on some of the city's most overrated dishes, from Tito's Tacos to Pink's on down. It's a hot take to say the least, but the list was largely crowdsourced so it seems there's some backing for it.

Citizen’s fried chicken sandwich giveaway

Beverly Hills newcomer Citizen is going to be giving lots of folks the bird for free tomorrow, thanks to the launch of their lunch menu. The first 50 folks who show up will earn themselves a free fried chicken sandwich from chef Scott Howard himself.

Labor Day's all you can eat bonanza

Both Terrine and Viviane are doing all you can eat parties for Labor Day this year, with the former working a $40 plate of all-American mostly barbecue favorites, and the latter doing a whole pig roast.

Swedish meatballs FTW

Here’s a fun one: chef Danny from The Arthur J knows how to make a mean plate of Swedish meatballs, and here he is stepping up to the stove on Playboy’s Let’s Get Fat.
