Samosa House now cooking up in Santa Monica
Indian favorite Samosa House is already up and running in Santa Monica, having flipped the previous Rawvolution on Main Street into another outlet of the fast casual Indian takeout concept. Expect all the usual favorites that you’d already find at the Culver City and Silver Lake outposts.
Long Beach’s new cider and mead house
The next step in beer nerdery is cider (and, with it, mead), as evidenced by the exploding national conversation around the stuff. Now taproom-heavy Long Beach is getting into the mix with Great Society Cider & Mead, a new option on East Broadway that the Press-Telegram says should open any day now, and will include food like vegan hamburgers and more.
RiceBar’s breakfast play
Feel like keeping it cheap on a random weekend morning when you’re running late? Try the $5 breakfast bowls at RiceBar. It’s a newer addition of the tiny Filipino spot’s repertoire, with LA Weekly calling it some of the best cheap breakfast you can get in town.
Westwood Westwood x Jessica Koslow
Sqirl owner and all-around badass Jessica Koslow stars in this new video for Westwood Westwood, which shows off the chef's past, her colorful current surroundings, and hints at big plans for the future.
Bruery Terreux is going big
Food GPS has more news on Bruery Terreux, the new barrel-focused Orange County taproom from the Bruery team. There’s some fun, funky, and literally wild stuff happening on site.
Disco Dining Club is back
Courtney Nichols’ Disco Dining Club is back for another fun-fueled dinner party filled with kitsch and flair. The ongoing dinners are part theater, part absurdity, and part feast in equal measure (yes, there’s an open bar), with the next iteration happening on August 13 and featuring a six-course meal from chef Monique Benabou. Tickets are on sale now.
Brentwood does gelato
There’s a new artisan gelato shop in Brentwood called Spatola, dishing out creamy dessert options right on busy Barrington Court. Hours run daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. or later, with flavors rotating regularly.
