Unnamed Thai Takeout Window Takes Over Former Butchers & Barbers in Hollywood

With a full service restaurant to come

Although Los Angeles has no lack of outstanding Thai restaurants, some noteworthy eateries are creeping out of the confines of Thai Town and landing right in the heart of Hollywood. Well now Hollywood has scored another competitor with an unnamed Thai takeout window taking over the former Butchers & Barbers space at 6533 Hollywood Blvd.

The proprietors of the window, who asked to remain unnamed until the restaurant officially opens with a full bar inside, are offering some of the better Thai options this area has seen. On the menu are the crowd pleasing pad thai, curries, and and tom yum soup, but it's the chef's special section where Southern Thai specialties shine. Think dishes like a Phuket-style crab curry and kua gling, a spicy dry Southern Thai curry with a choice of pork, chicken, shrimp, or mixed seafood.

The chefs expect to add many more specials when the restaurant fully opens, but for now the duo is offering kanom jeeb, or homemade chicken shu mai. What's more? The entire menu is 10% before grand opening, a bit of an extra incentive for early adopters.

The Thai takeout window is open Monday to Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. (but if you're lucky, they might stay open until 3 a.m. for you night owls).
