The time has finally come for that bootleg Joan’s on Third in Santa Monica to shuffle off, as a tipster writes in to say that the restaurant is now in the process of flipping into something new. What’s that going to look like? It’s a bit unclear at the moment, but the new name is going to be HB Daisy.
You won’t find much on HB Daisy at the moment, as things are still very much in flux. But give a call to the old Joan’s on Third Santa Monica number and you’ll hear a stock recording rattling off the new name of the place. You’ll also hear about the proposed reopening date, which is scheduled for the end of September under the new banner. As for the old Joan’s on Third Santa Monica website and Facebook page? Those have been scrubbed from the scene.
Mostly, based on this brand new Facebook page and some other sleuthing around, it seems that HB Daisy will be much in the vein of the former restaurant iteration. That means lots of baked goods, sandwiches, salads, and the like, plus a catering wing for Westside parties as needed.
So perhaps all that will come of the changeover is a new title and some reformatted menu items. It would likely be enough to keep ownership out of all the legal trouble they’ve fallen into, as their franchising agreement with the original Joan’s on Third fell on hard times. Expect HB Daisy to spring to life by the end of the month.
