Rustic Canyon’s friendly dinners

As Rustic Canyon continues headlong into its 10th anniversary, the first in a series of dinners with chef Jeremy Fox and friends is about to take place. The initial evening lands Monday, October 3 with chefs James Syhabout (Commis), Mourad Lahlou (Aziza), Gerart Craft (Sardella), Taco Maria’s Carlos Salgado, and Zoe Nathan from the Rustic Canyon team. Tickets are $125 for the six-course affair.

What is Roy Choi up to?

Here’s one that nobody saw coming: Apparently Roy Choi is hanging out with Robert Downey Jr. these days. He’s also plotting something with Chef lead Jon Favreau it seems, as this tease from Instagram shows. Is it Chef 2: The Re-Cheffening? A new collaboration restaurant working a menu of Cuban sandwiches? Who knows.

Hank & Frida’s hits Smorgasburg

New burger pop-up Hank & Frida’s has been firing up at Feastly lately, but this weekend they’ll be taking their talents to Smorgasburg in Downtown. It’s all part of a larger one-off concentration for National Cheeseburger Day (apparently), so expect other vendors to be turning out burgers as well.

The Springs x Juice Served Here

Two healthy heavy-hitters are teaming up, as The Springs moves forward as the food menu creators of record for all of Juice Served Here's Los Angeles locations. Starting September 21, get yogurts, bowls, and sandwiches made from the Springs team, but available across the city.

Get down at Grand Central

Tequila tasting at Gracias Madre

Want to sip your way through a series of tequilas from the Gran Cosecha family? For $65 you can do just that tonight at Gracias Madre, where a flight of sips comes with corn sopes, jackfruit tostadas, and more from the kitchen. You can also just get a flight by itself for $25.

Sandwich Shop's $9 deal

Thanks to their nine years working Downtown, Sandwich Shop has decided to offer $9 sandwich deals (any sandwich or salad, plus chips and a drink) starting today. The offer runs at both locations in Downtown from today through September 17.

The Andaz gets a new lead

There’s a new chef in town: Justin Taylor is in as lead at the Andaz in West Hollywood. As executive chef, Taylor will oversee the new menu for the hotel restaurant, and comes from the corporate ladder with the Andaz 5th Avenue in New York City.
