LA's Best Lamb Burger Hides In a Downtown Indian Restaurant

Find the funky option at Badmaash on 2nd Street

Los Angeles is a city rightfully known for its burgers, from classic roadside stand types to big, juicy steakhouse options loaded with prime cuts. Yet, for all our beefy glory, there are precious few places treating lamb burgers with the same high regard.

Thankfully there's Badmaash, a modern Indian gastropub situated on 2nd Street in Downtown. The colorful decor and hip hop playlist certainly don't conform to the usual Indian restaurant stereotypes, but that's precisely why owners Pawan Mahendro and his sons Nakul and Arjun, have put them in place. The restaurant continues to defy expectations with their approach to service and their menu, which features what could be hands-down the best lamb burger anywhere in Los Angeles.

It's a safe bet to make, given the relative paucity of lamb burgers in the city, but that's no sleight on this iteration at all. Theirs is a hefty grind, seared off so as to still be juicy inside, then kicked to 11 thanks to some greens and a paprika-spiced mayo on top. Don't forget to order a side of spice-riddled fries.
