There’s a big new development en route to the southern reaches of Echo Park, and the plan is to bring onboard a lot of restaurant and retail options. Called Echo Park Village, the series of storefronts along Glendale Boulevard is currently under construction, but they’ve already got one big tenant locked in.

First up for the space is Clark Street Bread, which was announced last week as an anchor tenant of sorts for the South Park Group project. They’re the ones behind all the upcoming changes at El Chavo in Silver Lake too, making them the group du jour of sorts for multi-concept builds on the Eastside apparently.

Drive past the stretch now and you’ll see it’s currently in the midst of a major renovation, with half a dozen storefronts coming up for availability in the next several months. According to sources they’ve already got one other unknown restaurant tenant locked in so far, and are looking to expand with a nightlife/bar tenant and a few other quick-service takeaway ideas.

If the Clark Street Bread space is any indication — that one features high bow & truss ceilings and the usual exposed brick — expect something nice to land here soon. More details as they come.
