There’s a hip new spot for top-notch coffee in the Jewel City

There’s a new Los Angeles coffee shop to fawn over, with yesterday’s arrival of Highlight Coffee to Glendale. The corner location at the intersection of Broadway and Glendale is an airy, tall ode to the modern urban coffee destination, from the light tones to the blond wood to the fantastic coffee coming from behind the counter.

Though small in stature, Highlight Coffee has big plans to become a neighborhood favorite — and all the tools to make it happen. Owner Frank Kim is a veteran of the greater LA coffee scene, having worked all over town at places like Demitasse and elsewhere.

Kim will be using a rotation of mostly smaller roasters, including Demitasse and the little-known Turning Point Coffee out of San Francisco. Pastries come by way of Bread Lounge, though there’s a slightly more expansive lineup coming soon.

Guests drinking in will be able to grab a few tables along one window (yep, there’s wifi and you’ll even find outlets) or stand up at a long bar along the opposite side. Expect a strong grab and go business as well, as the corner shop is within eyesight of a ton of municipal workers from the civic center to city hall to nearby police headquarters.

Hours for Highlight Coffee run long, meaning 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
