Plus a new Bacari for Glendale, and a Pink’s Hot Dogs expansion

Bacari grabs Glendale next

Perhaps in your Shake Shack line wait you’ve managed to spy signage for Bacari GDL, the latest iteration from the Bacari team (they also have locations in Playa del Rey and University Park). At the new GDL outlet, expect Italian small plates for lunch and dinner, plus wood-fired pizzas and a full bar. Things are happening inside, but the Americana-attached space is likely not arriving until winter.

Pizza Day at Smorgasburg

Sunday is Pizza Day at Smorgasburg, with vendors new and old doing special one-off pizza menus for the fans. Urbn Pizza and Two Doughs Pizza, both newcomers, will be on hand to send out pies, while the big news is that Evan Funke is teaming up with bread mercenary Noel Brohner of Slow Rise Pizza for a porchetta-pizza-sandwich hybrid that seems very, very promising.

Pablito’s Kitchen lands in Burbank

There’s a new Peruvian specialist aiming for Burbank, as Pablito’s Kitchen looks to take over a corner space on Burbank Boulevard soon. Signage is already up for the food truck turned shop, and an opening could come any day.

Pink’s Hot Dogs hit Del Amo

It’s another expansion for Pink’s, the famed Hollywood hot dog stand. With lots of domestic and worldwide locations, the company is keeping this one local by popping a mall location into the Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance. It’s apparently the first mall-specific outlet the company has ever had, and is open right this second.

Another Whole Foods restaurant

The El Segundo Whole Foods was apparently feeling left out, so it went and opened a new restaurant on site called The 2nd. The place offers dozens of craft beer taps, plus wine and a variety of pub-friendly dishes. There’s a weekday happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., kombucha at the ready, and lots of shopping always close at hand.

That Burgerlords collab

Starting Monday, Burgerlords is launching the first of their ongoing chef collaborations with Timothy Hollingsworth from Otium. The idea is to craft limited-time burgs (both meat and veggie) to sell from the Chinatown window every Monday of the month. Hollingsworth himself will be on hand slinging burgers, with an after-party on Monday going down at General Lee across the way (where chef’s brother Brian will also be behind the bar apparently).

Caviar x Daw Yee Myanmar Corner

Want all the goodness of Daw Yee Myanmar Corner in Silver Lake, but with none of the driving? Now you can order via Caviar and get everything you wanted — plus a few delivery-only items like ribs — straight from the restaurant directly, and have it delivered to your doorstep.

It’s Bru Grill time

Looks like the switch from Trattoria Neapolis to Bru Grill is complete in Pasadena. The restaurant’s fledgling Facebook page is now active, showing off menu items like Dr. Pepper-braised pork tacos, steaks, wine, and more.

Fritzi DTLA brunches it up

There’s a new Arts District brunch to contend with, this one at Fritzi next door to Arts District Brewing. Neal Fraser and company work a menu with a Danish lean, including Dutch baby pancakes and lots of smoked salmon. The full bill of fare is below.
