Just when you thought Silver Lake couldn’t get any more caffeinated, here comes Bardonna. Tucked into the former Picnic space, this all-day newcomer is ready to start serving now, with an official opening slated for Sunday.
The completely rethought restaurant comes courtesy of M. Winter Design lead Matt Winter, and offers a charming respite from the stark walls and blond wood found at most other shops around town. Instead, Bardonna Silver Lake takes on a casual European vibe, all vaguely Spanish and full of 1950’s charm. In fact, some of the oil paintings found in the place actually date from that time period.
Luckily the food and coffee options remain up to date. Much like the other Bardonnas — a flip of the former Groundwork location along Larchmont, and the original in Santa Monica — this location will offer straight drip and espresso drinks, as well as a ton of food. You can get breakfast all day, ranging from a huevos rancheros bowl to takeaway sandwiches, plus tartines, grain bowls, salads, soups, and sides. The full opening menu is below.

Bardonna officially opens on Sunday, keeping daily hours from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. With their location near FrankieLucy Bakeshop, Alfred Coffee, and others, this stretch of Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake might officially be getting the caffeine jitters. Look for a future Bardonna location in Brentwood as well.
