Tough news for Italian newcomer Bianconi, which only just hit the three month mark along West Third Street. According to multiple reports, the restaurant was extensively damaged following a late night fire, leaving a rather uncertain timeline for their recovery.

As you can see from the below image, the fire pushed flames high into the sky during the wee hours of Sunday morning. It was eventually knocked down by the Los Angeles Fire Department before spreading to neighboring businesses.

In a statement sent around by the Bianconi team, they thank the hardworking LAFD for their “quick response and professionalism,” while noting that they will unfortunately be closed “for the foreseeable future.” While the reported cause of the fire is still being officially investigated — it is suspected of being electrical — in the meantime the restaurant begins the slow process of cleaning up. Even celebrity Joe Rogan, who had apparently dined at the restaurant just before the fire, wished everyone well in getting back on their feet.

This latest incident marks yet another blaze in a city that has been filled with restaurant fires over the past couple of years, from the quickly-extinguished ones at places like Jon & Vinny’s and EP & LP to arsonists striking one of the Valley’s most beloved mole spots. Here’s to wishing Bianconi well in their recovery efforts.
